Foodies from all over the state come to the café in Round Top, Texas for the old-fashioned pie and they keep coming back for more. “The crust is the main thing,” says owner Tara Royer. Um-hmm: It’s melt-in-your-mouth flaky.
Tara’s father, Bud, a.k.a. The Pieman, is famous for his namesake: a thick, chewy chocolate-chip pie. But their famous pecan pie deserves a blue ribbon too.
During this year’s holiday season, we are proud to welcome back Royers Pies exclusively at Rice Epicurean Markets. Available mid-November, just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday, look for these award-winning pies in our fresh Bakery and Frozen Food departments.
Bud’s Chocolate Chip Pie
‘Tis the pie that is the café’s claim to fame and that started it all, so many years ago! We sell this pie 4 to 1 over all other pies. It is best described as a “big thick and chewy chocolate chip cookie with pecans”.
Dr. Karen’s Pumpkin Pie
Just the right amount of cinnamon and pumpkin spice! Oh so creamy and perfect in that flaky crust!
Ann’s Pecan Pie
If you love pecan pie, this is truly an awesome pecan pie – not too sweet and doesn’t have a strong “Karo” taste. We use whole Texas pecans, each pecan is a candy treat by itself!
